What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you listen or read the word MATHEMATICS , it can be different for everyone: it can be numbers, mathematical symbols, polygons, that scary calculus homework questions or may be a feeling of hatred. In most cases it would have been number, i guess.

What you found out is that Mathematics deals with logic of numbers, shapes and arrangements. The motive of this post is to give you the essence of  Mathematics of what it actually is and how should we see it.

For most it would be just a subject that only emphasizes on learning formulas and putting them into some equations or just finding out some results. Let me clear this out Mathematics is not only about this. Mathematics is much more than this.

It is in my view an art of understanding and analyzing patterns or creating new patterns which are based on a logic. I get excited to know that most of the machineries and gadgets which are making our work easy these days are a gift of Mathematics to us in some way. As all the algorithms, logics and back-end programming which goes on behind these devices requires a lot of mathematics and aptitude. Hence this subject has great sense of importance and respect. Even we should have a feeling of gratitude towards the subject.

In many cases Mathematics can also be observed in nature the pattern once the tunes obtained by guitar strings was related to Mathematics, even the spirals in pineapple, seeds in a sunflower and no of petals on flowers follow the series called Fibonacci series and hence called Fibonacci spiral. Even the hurricanes, waves and tides shape and pattern can be expressed using mathematical modelling.

Topics like Calculus , Trigonometry , Coordinate Geometry, Sequences and Series and many others are widely used in Science and Technology these days. The high end games we play and enjoy so much requires extensive Mathematics, Physics and Computer Programming to build. Ever thought why the competitive exams test our Math and aptitude skills and consider Mathematics to be the most prior subject, it is because of the reason of versatility of Mathematics as they try to figure how smartly and efficiently who can the Queen of Science to solve out real world problems. Even in the survey, analysis and all the assumptions which we can make of in field of money also requires money.

The need is to enjoy digging out new and efficient ways of problem solving and designing things, this will give us a better world tomorrow and is actually the real sense of learning and applying Mathematics in real life.
